press play to hear from BOS Chair Jim Miksch

Washington County’s property tax levy will increase by five cents next fiscal year. Board of Supervisors Chairman Jim Miksch says they always try to keep the hike as low as possible, however, he’s concerned that reductions in state funding will mean other entities, such as school districts, will require more substantial property tax increases. Miksch says many property owners look at their tax bills, and forget that the county collects all property tax money, and then distributes it to other taxing bodies.
