The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team is headed to Des Moines for the state basketball tournament which will start a week from today. The Golden Hawks beat Albia Saturday in Oskaloosa at sub-state 46-34. Throughout the game neither team had more than a four point lead until the fourth when the Golden Hawks started pulling away a little. The Hawks only allowed 11 second half points, six in the third and five in the fourth. For Mid-Prairie, Tanner Miller had 17 points Kaleb Duwa ended up with 12, and Michael Aldeman had 8. The Golden Hawks now head to state and will face the defending state champs Solon in the opening round a team they beat in Solon just before the Christmas break. They play next Tuesday at 1:45pm.
