A Washington man accused of killing his wife has pleaded not guilty. 70 year old James D Blum is charged with second degree murder in the death of 67 year old Patricia Blum. His attorney filed the plea yesterday in Washington County Court. Pretrial in the case is slated for April 30; The trial date is scheduled for May 11. Blum was arrested in January after his wife was found unresponsive in the couple’s east Washington Street Home. She later died at a hospital. In an affidavit, Blum admitted to police that he killed his wife by smothering her after she had backed into their garage door.
