Washington Relays open outdoor track season

The Washington Demon boys track and field team kicks off their outdoor season tonight at Case Field. The Demons are hosting the Washington Relays. Twenty-one schools will be at the meet and they will run three classes. Demon Head Coach Steve Roth says there was a call for some rain tonight but it looks like the weather will cooperate. He says in an effort to put the fastest on the track at the same time they will seed runners so some of the faster kids from the smaller schools will be running against some of the faster kids from the larger schools. The athletes will still be scored and placed based on school size, so a smaller school athlete might come in third on the track but have the fastest time among the schools in his class, in which case he’d get first. The Washington Relays begin with field events at 4:30 and the running events starting at 5:00pm.
