Starting today, Iowans can no longer get their permanent driver’s licenses at county courthouses. Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett says the state is switching to a centralized issuance system. He says offices such has his will issue temporary paper licenses that people can use until their plastic one comes in the mail from the DOT. Garrett says the shift aims to reduce fraud and save money.
