The city of Washington is buying 90 acres of land from the school district. It’s part of a plan that will help the district offset the cost of the property purchased for the new high school and allow the city to construct a wellness park. Mayor Sandra Johnson says the next step is to take public input on what the new recreation facility should be comprised of. School board members approved the sale of the land for 675-thousand dollars, or 75-hundred dollars per acre at last night’s meeting.
