press play to hear from Maury Sass

The distance food travels from the farm to the dinner table is getting shorter, thanks in part to community supported agriculture, or CSA. In Washington County, Sass Family Farms is one of a few spots consumers can buy locally grown food. Maury and Sherry Sass, along with their children run the farm. Maury says they’ve had to scale back their CSA operation, because they weren’t able to handle the demand. He says members now receive a basket with variety of produce depending on the time of year. They also include eggs from their farm and a baked good, that’s often made with ingredients they grow.
