Demon boys second at Williamsburg, Demon girls fourth

The Demon boys took second at the Williamsburg track meet last night. Solon won the boys’ side of the meet with 134 team points, the Demons were runner up with 130, Vinton-Shellsburg with 86, and Mid-Prairie tied with Williamsburg with 68. For the Demons:

Discus – Isaac Gardner 2nd
High Jump – Jake Redlinger 2nd
400 Meter Hurdles – Joel Vittetoe 1st
800 Meter Run – Travis Shelman 1st , Jordan Vittetoe 2nd
4×8 – 1st Robert Suebert, Travis Shelman, Jordan Vittetoe, and Matt Kuntz
4×1 – 3rd Landon Coker, Alex Vogel, Jake Redlinger, Parker Turner

On the girls’ side, Washington finished fourth as a team. Solon won with 164 points, Williamsburg 147, Mid-Prairie and Grinnell tied for third with 93 points and Washington ended up with 81. For the Demons:
400 Meter Hurdles – Lucy Libe 1st , Regan Enfield 2nd
Shuttle Hurdle Relay – 1st Hannah Rich, Lucy Libe, Alexa Walker, Regan Enfield
4×8 – 1st Mariah Righard, Lauren Kimball, Lucy Libe, Regan Enfield (they shaved 10 seconds off their fastest time)
Shot Put and Discus – Jenna Krebs 37-feet in the shot for 3rd and 110 feet in th discus for 2nd, which Coach Howard Bean says were both personal bests. The Demons host the Demon Relays a co-ed meet tomorrow.

For the Mid-Prairie girls:
3,000 – Sofia Chmaruk 1st
200 Meter – Katie Redlinger 2nd
Shot Put – Candice Henrichson 2nd
Discus – Candice Henrichson 3rd

For Mid-Prairie Boys:
200 Meter – Ryan Hoffman 2nd
1600 – Peter Schwartz 2nd
Long Jump – Jaemin Powell 2nd
4×1 – 1st
4×4 – 1st
1600 Medley Relay – 1st
