The Washington Demon golf teams open season play today. For the girls, they are playing in an 18-hole tournament in Keokuk. Demon Head Coach Len Kull says it’s a little different scoring set up that has all six girls for each team contributing to the score. For each team their one and two players will be scored normal, three and four golfers will take the best score for each hole and the five and six golfers will play from the best lie for each shot.

Meanwhile for the boys, they start the season off with a conference dual at Mount Pleasant. Then they host Lone Tree tomorrow. The Demons have three returning varsity players in Kaleb Rich, Joe Harris and Alex Thode. Heading in Demon Head Coach Mark Berhow says he likes their depth as a team, similar to last year’s state tournament team, he says he expects any of the six golfers could score very well for them on any given night and not be dependent on their top two or three golfers.
