A Republican candidate for a southeast Iowa State Senate Seat is defending her record while she served in the house. The conservative website Everyday America posted an article recently accusing Sandy Griener of trying to circumvent the Constitution in 2003 by supporting Senate File 341, which aimed to keep Smithfield Foods out of Iowa. Greiner says the measure aimed to protect small family farms by preventing vertical integration. She says she would’ve liked to see the bill pass and be challenged, letting the courts decide its constitutionality. Every Day America pulled a quote of Greiner from audio recorded at a recent Washington County TEA Party meeting for the article, where she said “I’m willing just to do it whether it is constitutional or not.”
