Keokuk County Schools Tactics for Alcohol Abuse Reduction or the KC STARR group is sponsoring a town hall meeting on the topic of teenage alcohol consumption. Prevention Specialist for Substance Abuse Services in Ottumwa Kitty Bogle is the key speaker. The title of her presentation is “The Teen Brain–Under Construction.” It focuses on how a teenager’s brain functions as opposed to an adult’s when consuming alcohol. The program also encourages students to improve self-esteem, decision making, and time management with the intent of decreasing dependence on drugs and alcohol. The meeting is this Wednesday at the cafeteria of the Tri-County Schools in Thornburg beginning at 7 p.m. It is open to the public.
