The Mid-Prairie School District has received two grants for their Foreign Language Assistance Program. They are receiving nearly 150-thousand dollars for their Chinese Educational Experience in Rural Schools, or CHEERS program. They are also getting more than 153-thousand dollars for the Aspiring for Spanish in Rural Education project, or ASPIRE. Superintendent Mark Schneider says receiving these grants shows how Mid-Prairie’s staff looks for every opportunity for their students. He says the Chinese grant will expand the language class to the third elementary school and possibly the middle school, and the Spanish grant will expand the language into the Elementary school.
