An area athlete will take part in the state’s all-star football game this summer. Mid-Prairie running back Tanner Miller has been selected to play on the south squad for this year’s Shrine Bowl. With all classes included a spot on the roster is difficult to come by. Miller rushed for 18-hundred yards and scored 24 rushing touchdowns. As a safety for the Golden Hawks, he was the team’s second leading tackler. He is headed to the University of Iowa to play football for the Hawkeyes. Mid-Prairie Head Football Coach Pete Cavanaugh will also be involved in the Shrine Bowl. Cavanaugh was selected to serve as an assistant on the south squad under Bedford Head Coach Bob McCoy who is the head man of the south squad. The Shrine Bowl will be played July 24th at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.
