Road construction work will cause lane restrictions in Burlington beginning Monday, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mount Pleasant construction office. Shipley Construction Company is beginning a one point four two million dollar improvement project on U.S. 61 at the Mount Pleasant Street intersection. The first stage of work will cause the inside lanes in both directions of U.S. 61 to be closed, as well as the frontage road along the southwest section of the intersection. The closures will block the east access to the Holiday Inn Express, but the north access to the business remains open. The open lanes of traffic will have a 12-foot width lane restriction between Kirkwood Street and Lenox Street. This stage of the project is expected to be completed in three weeks.
