More than 30 volunteers with Jon boats and ATV’s descended on the banks of the Iowa River near Columbus Junction over the weekend for a cleanup project in honor of Earth Day. The crews found 10 gallons of broken glass, kitchen sinks, oxygen tanks, stoves toilets, vacuum cleaners and refrigerators. About 300 pounds of trash will be recycled, including around 200 pounds of scrap metal. One and a half tons of trash and about 25 tires had to be sent to a land fill.
