press play to hear from Ed Raber of the Washington Economic Development Group

A Kansas based energy company is asking the board of supervisors to issue a letter of support for a wind farm project in Washington County. Tim Wichman addressed the board at Tuesday’s meeting. He says the overall project could entail more than 300 wind turbines, at a cost of about a million dollars each. Supervisors did express some concern over a special tax valuation wind farms are eligible for, but Ed Raber with the Washington Economic Development Group, points out that all energy projects enjoy some tax shelter. Supervisors are expected to discuss the issue further at next weeks meeting.
