At the Drake Relays, the Demons ran their second best time of the season in the 4×1, and Mid-Prairie’s Tanner Miller advances to the 110 high hurdle finals. The Demons were competing in three events yesterday.

In rainy wet conditions, Jake Redlinger was one of four in the field to not clear the opening height of 5-10. Redlinger has jumped 6-4 so far this year, but Demon Head Coach Steve Roth says the conditions were challenging. Pekin’s Trey Sathoff and Bryce Sines both sophomores finish tied for 19th with a 5-10 jump. Sigourney’s J.C. Abrahamson tied for 12th going 6-2. Six foot-eight ended up winning the high jump. In the girls long jump, Lucy Libe finished 20th, jumping 14-feet 10 inches. Columbus Heaven Chandler finished 17th with a jump 15-feet 3-inches.

Chandler also ran in the 100 meter hurdles going 19.09 ending up 31st and did not qualify for the finals. On the boys side, Mid-Prairie’s Tanner Miller came out of the prelims with the third fastest time at 14.88 but false started in the finals. Winfield-Mount Union had two competing in this event. Wes Atkinson had the 14th fastest time and Kerry Unkrich was 19th.

In the boys 4×1, the Demons ran 45.12 in the prelims which is their second fastest time in the event this season. Demon Head Coach Steve Roth says they hand offs were good and he was pleased with the way they ran especially in the rain. On the girls side, Highland had the 22nd fastest time and Mid-Prairie had the 27th.
