Press play to hear from Tami Kusian with the Iowa State Auditor’s Office

City officials in Harper are revising how they document financial transactions. The mayor, clerk and city council commissioned a report from the state auditor’s office, which was released this week. Tami Kusian with the auditor’s office says it’s not unusual for a new administration to request such a report to ensure things are being done properly. A new mayor took office earlier this year, and a new clerk began working for Harper. Among the state auditor’s recommendations are further segregation of duties, a new system for issuing receipts and developing an accounting policies and procedures manual.
