press play to hear from U of I Economist Chuck Whiteman
Iowa’s index of economic indicators posted a huge increase recently, which is a good sign that Iowa is recovering from the recession. The index rose from 97.2 in February to 98.2 in March. That one point gain is the largest increase in the index’s 11 year history, also making it the sixth straight monthly increase among Iowa’s leading indicators. University of Iowa Economist Chuck Whiteman says the economy isn’t booming yet, but it’s a good start after hitting rock bottom.
