press play to hear from Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman
A Washington public safety committee meeting next week will focus on the responsibilities that city liquor license holders have to fulfill. It’s in response to a fatal fight last year outside of a local bar. Police Chief Greg Goodman says there have been other altercations that fortunately did not end in such a tragic way. He feels tavern patrons are simply getting too intoxicated, which is at least partially the fault of the establishment’s managers. Goodman says bartenders who over serve someone can be cited along with the intoxicated individual. He says bars can even lose their liquor licenses. The safety committee is scheduled to meet at 3:00 PM Wednesday next week at the old public library building.
