State qualifying meets run today

It’s a big day in high school track and field as District/Regional meets are held across the state. For the boys it’s called districts and for the girls it’s called regionals but it’s ultimately the same thing the state qualifying meet for each. On the boys side, the top three from each event will go to Des Moines, while on the girls side it’s slightly different. The top two from each site qualify and then after that the top eight times across the state qualify. So it is possible to finish third or fourth and as long as you have one of the eight fastest times in the state after those that qualify you can get in. For the Demon, they will be running at Mount Pleasant against Mount Pleasant, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Centerville, Clear Creek Amana, and Chariton.

In 2A, Mid-Prairie and Columbus will be running at the Eddyville-Blakesburg site.

In 1A, all of the area schools including Sigourney, who is 1A in track and field, will be running at WACO.
