press play to hear from Tradewind Energy Leasing Mgr. Tim Wichman

A proposed wind farm in Washington County has the backing of the board of supervisors. Members approved issuing a letter of support for the project by Kansas based Tradewind Energy. It’s a step Leasing Manager Tim Wichman says is vital, because his company is not a public utility and cannot claim eminent domain. Wichman says the initial phase of the project would be the construction of 335 wind turbines capable of producing 500 megawatts of electricity. If it’s realized in full, it could be the largest wind farm in Iowa.
