Musician Dennis Stroughmatt discusses Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music

Traditional music, food and culture is on the docket for this weekend’s Taste of Louisiana Cajun and Zydeco Festival in Amana. One of the five bands playing is called Creole Stomp. Fiddler Dennis Stroughmatt says this music genre has a rich heritage. He says it has French, African and Caribbean influences. Stroughmatt says the festival will also give attendees a chance to meet the musicians and learn more about the culture behind the music. The event is this Saturday and Sunday at the Amana Colonies.
