Iowa’s unemployment rate edged up a o.1% last month, while Washington County’s saw a nearly 1% decrease. Kerry Koonce with Iowa Workforce Development says there are signs that the job outlook is improving. Koonce says total employment in April increased to more than
1,572,000. She says historical trends show this measure is often the first to detect employment trends in a recovery. Koonce says some of the biggest gains were made in manufacturing and professional business services
