The Washington Chamber of Commerce’s Thursday Night Live Activities get started this month, and they’re trying to figure out the history of the event. Chamber Executive Director Tim Coffey says as far as he can tell, it started with some foreign exchange students who were in town for the city’s art festival. He says at the time, the Rotary wanted to put on some entertainment for them, which later evolved into a dance for high school students. Coffey admits that what he knows of the events origins is incomplete. He’s asking area residents who can fill in the gaps to contact the chamber so they can have a more accurate portrayal of how Thursday Night Live got started.
