press play to hear from Washington Mayor Sandra Johnson

Washington City Councilors are delaying a liquor license renewal at a local bar until after the public safety committee holds a meeting later this month. Mayor Sandra Johnson says they want that committee to meet with liquor license holders, police and the county attorney to discuss what responsibilities establishments that serve alcohol have under the city code. Late last year Washington resident Robert Thomas Blankenship was killed after a brawl outside of a local bar. As a result, Police Chief Greg Goodman pledged increased enforcement of liquor laws. The public safety committee is expected to meet May 12.
