Close to 30 people representing a majority of Washington’s liquor license holders attended a city council public safety committee meeting yesterday. The focus of that meeting was to address perceived and actual problems that might happen at local taverns and package liquor retailers in the wake a fatal bar fight last year. Some of the steps proposed by the city include police walk-throughs at local establishments and a more stringent process for renewing liquor licenses. The safety committee plans to meet in about three months to see if the steps are effective, and aren’t restricting business.
