Another wet week hindered the planting progress in southeast Iowa. The USDA reports that there was less than a half a day of suitable for field work last week. Despite the precipitation, corn planting in this corner of the state did rise two percent from 86 to 88 percent, eight percent behind the state average of 96 percent. Soybeans planted in southeast Iowa grew slightly from 23 to 25 percent. The state wide average is 53 percent. This week’s forecast calls for a slight chance of rain today, Wednesday sunny, and a chance for showers and storms Thursday and Friday.
