It’s the official start of summer, making today the year’s longest with approximately 14 ½ hours of sunlight.  Known as the Summer Solstice, KCII WeatherEye Meteorologist Collin Witherow says today the sun reaches its “highest declination” in the northern hemisphere, providing us with more direct sunlight than any other time this summer.  In the southern hemisphere, today marks the beginning of winter.
