The 34th Iowa National Guard Army Band will play Sunday in Washington’s Central Park, in the band shell that a former member paid more than $100,000 to help build.  Dean Kurtz is organizing the event, and says Washington Band Shell private donor John Jackson traveled with the band to North Africa and England during World War II.  Kurtz was a band member from 1970 to 1982, and adds that other Washington community members have also played.  The 34th Army Band dates back to 1921, and will play Sunday at 2pm.
