Alliant Energy’s Energy Saving Plan

This week Alliant Energy initiated its Appliance Cycling program for customers south of I-80, including about 200 customers in Washington County. The program activates during peak energy use and turns air conditioners on and off every 15 minutes to save energy.  Company spokesman Scott Dryzycimski says Alliant purchases additional power from local providers to support summer energy consumption, and the program saves them money that is passed onto customers who are paid $8 each month, even if their air conditioner is not cycled off.  The Appliance Cycling program is open to all Alliant customers.
