Southeast Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack says Iowans need an extension of the national flood insurance program. Loebsack and the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would extend the program for participating communities through September 30th, but the legislation must move past the Senate before being signed by the President.  Loebsack says the program offers reasonable rates to Iowans that may not be able to afford private coverage because of their area. A complete list of participating cities and counties is available at FEMA.gov. The Federal Emergency Management Agency website lists Louisa, Johnson, Keokuk, and Iowa counties as participants.
