Demons hire new football coach

It looks like the Washington Demons have found a new football coach. Athletic Director Bryce Smeins says they offered the position to Randy Schrader who has been coaching Rockford College since 2006. He would also serve as Dean of Students. The hiring still needs approval from the school board. Smeins says Schrader has coached at a wide range of levels including Clarinda, North Scott, Davenport West, and Rockford College. Schrader coached Clarinda and North Scott to playoff appearances. The Dean of Students position came open after Eric Bucholtz was selected to take over for out going Washington High School Principal Shane Ehresman. Shrader takes over the football side of things for Jason Ganoe who will be the football coach at Fairfield. Ironically, Shrader is a Fairfield native. He played high school football at Pekin.
