Downtown Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Follow Up

Despite heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon, residents of Washington gathered to commemorate the city’s new band shell and other downtown revitalization efforts at a ribbon cutting ceremony held in Central Park. Mayor Sandra Johnson told the crowd that downtown revitalization efforts had been on-going since 1981, and thanked numerous community members that she said made the project a reality. Washington’s Municipal Band also performed for the first time this season … and will perform every Thursday night as part of the city’s Thursday Night Live Entertainment program.
