Washington County Engineer David Patterson says this week’s precipitation has actually improved the county’s unpaved roads.  He says a hard, driving rain helps settle road rock after it has been layed and is preferable to slower, soft precipitation that soaks into the ground like a sponge, making it difficult to drive on. Patterson says Washington County’s unpaved roads haven’t suffered much from the more than six and a half inches of rain this month and remain in fairly good shape.
