The National Weather Service has designated next week as “Lightning Safety Week” to remind you that lightning causes more deaths than tornadoes or hurricanes, and typically July has the most lightning fatalities. Director Tim Coffee says in April a bolt of lightning shut down the Washington Chamber of Commerce, causing $7,000 dollars in damage to its phone and computer systems. Lightning Safety week is June 20th to 26th.
