A local DNR Officer says he’s enjoying retirement after over 38 years on the job. Don Pfeiffer’s official last day with the DNR was May 28th. Pfeiffer has lived in Washington since 1981, and he and his wife have raised two boys in the area during that time. Pfeiffer says his favorite part of the job was the relationships with people involved with the DNR, and citizens interested in wildlife. He says the toughest part of the job was accepting things he couldn’t control, like weather elements, habitat change and budgets. Don says he now plans on working on home improvement projects with his new spare time, as well as seeing more of his grandchildren in California and Iowa.
