There will be more State Troopers than normal on the road this weekend in southeast Iowa. Lieutenant Dean Jalas of Iowa State Patrol District 13, including Washington, Henry, Keokuk, Jefferson, and Louisa counties, says no checkpoints have been planned at this time, but time-off requests have been limited to put more troopers on patrol.  Jalas says the Iowa State Patrol is doing everything it can to have the safest 4th of July weekend on record, and officers will be looking to prevent “killer violations” such as not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, and drunk driving.
