A planning meeting is scheduled for the first National Night Out, ‘America’s Night out Against Crime’ event in Keokuk County. The event is to heighten awareness and strengthen participation in local anticrime efforts that involve entire communities. It also promotes police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie. Some events community members have been working on for this year’s NNO include kids’ games, a teen scavenger hunt, a rock climbing wall, information for parents, displays from the fire department, ambulance, and police departments, and a movie in the park.
