Larry G. Cohenour

Funeral services for 69 year old Larry G. Cohenour of Brighton will be 1pm Wednesday (6/16) at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Burial will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation begins at 3:00 Tuesday (6/15) afternoon at the funeral home with family present 5-7pm.  In lieu of memorials, the family asks that friends commit a random act of kindness as was Larry’s custom.

Washington County To Become Iowa’s “Barn Quilt Capitol”

Tomorrow, the Washington County Board of Supervisors will vote to approve a proclamation that would make Washington County the official “Barn Quilt Capitol” of Iowa.

Kalona Area “Future Problem Solving” Team” Has #2 World Ranking

Four Kalona area home-school students and their coach traveled to the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse last week to compete with teams from the U.S., Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Great Britain in the Future Problem Solving International Competition.

Franklin D. Wenger

Funeral Services for 74 year old Franklin D. Wenger of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Washington will be held at 11:00 am Friday (6/18) at the First Christian Church in Washington.  Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery.  Visitation begins at noon Thursday (6/17) at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice.

Celebration of life services for 91 year old Martha Stutzman of Kalona will be at 10:00 am tomorrow (6/16) at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Burial will take prior to the service. Visitation is today (6/15) from 2-8pm at Peterseim Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Lower Deer Creek Women’s Sewing Circle or Parkview Chaplaincy.

“Dessert Auction” To Benefit 4-H Student With Cancer
