Demon softball team preps for West Branch and Fort Madison

The 15th ranked Demon softball team is off tonight, they will be on the road tomorrow facing West Branch in a varsity doubleheader. Then the Demons will have a big conference doubleheader on Thursday when they meet sixth ranked Fort Madison.

Funeral Services for 102 year old Amy Brenneman of Lone Tree will be at 11:00 tomorrow (6/16) morning at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation is tomorrow (6/16) morning from 9:30 – 11:00 at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree.

Funeral Services for 92 year old Winnie Marshall of Washington will be held Friday (6/18) morning at 10:30 at the United Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday (6/17) at Jones-Eden Funeral Home. Family visitation from 6 – 8 that evening. A memorial has been established for the United Presbyterian Home and United Presbyterian Church.

Larry G. Cohenour

Funeral services for 69 year old Larry G. Cohenour of Brighton will be 1pm Wednesday (6/16) at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Burial will be in the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation begins at 3:00 Tuesday (6/15) afternoon at the funeral home with family present 5-7pm.  In lieu of memorials, the family asks that friends commit a random act of kindness as was Larry’s custom.

Washington County To Become Iowa’s “Barn Quilt Capitol”

Kalona Area “Future Problem Solving” Team” Has #2 World Ranking

Four Kalona area home-school students and their coach traveled to the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse last week to compete with teams from the U.S., Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Great Britain in the Future Problem Solving International Competition.
