The Pekin and Fairfield School Districts are now apart of the Iowa Voluntary Statewide Pre-school Program.  This is the fourth and final year schools have had the opportunity to have funds approved for the program.  The statewide Pre-School Program grant allows lower costs for parents to enroll their child in preschool.  Superintendent at Pekin John Dotson says the program also ensures equality across the state as far as every four year old child having the opportunity to attend a preschool program.  Dotson says schools approved in this last year will not be getting full funding compared to schools that have been apart of the program in the previous years.  He says the down economy plays a roll in the lesser funds.  The Program takes effect next school year.
