Preschool Support in Washington

Gubernatorial candidate Terry Branstad reaffirmed his stance against publicly-funded preschool programs last week by criticizing their expansion under Governor Culver while other education funds were cut.  Washington Community Schools Superintendent Dave Sextro told KCII that preschool is needed in Iowa to “get kids off to a solid start” by catching up students that would otherwise enter school behind their peers.  Superintendent Sextro says without preschool those students have trouble later on in life.  Sextro will be present for his last Washington Board of Education meeting tonight at 7pm.
