Road Embargo To Halt Semi-Truck Traffic

Washington County Engineer David Patterson says the overuse of Ginkgo Avenue outside of West Chester is a sign that less funding has made the current system of maintaining similar roads “not sustainable”. Patterson told the County Board of Supervisors the unpaved road can’t support the weight of semi-trucks using it to haul materials, and said placing an embargo on “thru traffic” over 5 tons is the best solution.  The board approved the resolution, and vehicles over 5 tons that need access to the road for tasks such as deliveries must now get a permit from the County.  Patterson says passenger vehicles and normal pickups are not affected by the change.
