Storms and high winds are common for southeast Iowa during the summer months, and the Iowa Utilities Board is reminding community members that tree limbs near power lines during storms can be very dangerous. The Utilities Board recommends hiring a professional tree service contractor to trim trees around power lines on your property. They say you should never attempt to cut tree limbs near power lines. Also plant trees away from overhead power lines, and as far away from underground structures as possible to account for root growth, which can cause problems with underground utility lines, foundations, sidewalks, and driveways. There is a chance for severe weather this evening. Stay tuned to KCII for up to the minute weather information.
