Shakespeare in the Park, City Miscommunication

Washington High School Drama Director Lynn Loula says a miscommunication between city groups has caused today’s “Shakespeare in the Park” performance to move from 5:30 to 2pm.  Lola learned that her Band Stand production and the annual “Back to the 50’s and 60’s Cruise Night” were double booked by listening to KCII, and after neither event wanted to change venues, she agreed to move the play to an earlier time.  A Washington official says the City Council approved the classic car show in August of 2009, but “Shakespeare in the Park” was also approved by the city’s park board.  The official says the double booking has allowed Washington to improve its system for booking space around Central Park to avoid future miscommunication.  “12th Night” performed by “Shakespeare in the Park” debuted yesterday at 5:30pm with a second show today at 2, followed by the “Back to the 50’s and 60’s Cruise Night” at 5pm.
