The Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced nine fourth quarter city grant awards for towns in Washington County earlier this week. Wellman is receiving more than 22 thousand dollars this quarter.  City Administrator Dave Ross says the funds received from the Riverboat Foundation has helped the city pay debt repayment for the Parkside Activities Center, remodeling the skating rink, revitalization of the business district with the streetscape project as well as other community improvement projects.  Ross says the city is able to do many city projects without raising city property taxes, and feels the Riverboat Foundation Grants play a role in that factor as well.
