Washington County Supervisors have approved the hiring of a zoning officer. The exact job title is Zoning Administrator and Zoning Coordinator. The board approved the hiring of Steve Lafaurie this morning. Board Chair Jim Miksch says they did not create this position for someone to be out patrolling the country looking for problems, but if people have concerns and action needs to be taken, he will be responsible for that. He will also help people in the development process. Lafaurie lives in Kalona and has experience in manufacturing management and non-profit.
