The Demon softball team was tested by Mount Pleasant at time last night. Washington needed to win both games to keep their name towards the top of the conference with Keokuk and Fort Madison. In the first game Mount Pleasant led 3-1 going into the fifth but the Demons tied it with the bases loaded Caitlin Fishback had a hit to score two. The Demons would get another run in that inning to go up by one and would add another run in the sixth as Washington won 5-3.
In the second game the Demons led most of the way with the score 2-1. The Panthers got a run in to tie it in the top of the sixth, but Washington loaded the bases and Mackenzie Adrian came in to score the winning run. The Demons won 3-2 and improve to 22-8 on the season. Demon Head Coach Angie Shrader likes the way they finished conference play. The standings now depend on how Fort Madison and Keokuk fair against each other in their second meeting. A Keokuk sweep would mean the Demons, Kekouk and Fort Madison tie for the title, a Fort Madison sweep or split would mean the Demons finished second. The Demons will now host Winfield-Mount Union for a doubleheader tonight. Tonight is senior night for Washington.
