The Washington Demons accomplished another goal with a win over Keokuk in the opening round of the post season in Mount Pleasant. The Demons accomplished one goal win they won the conrference title during the regular season. Another was to end a 12 year postseason losing streak and they did it with a 6-2 win over the Chiefs. The Demons and Keokuk were playing in Mount Pleasant and the Demons got Anthony Ossman and Josh Moore at second and third in the top of the first, and they’d score on a Brad Weatherman base hit. The Chiefs would tie it up in the bottom of the first and we’d be tied 2-2 until the fourth. In that inning Kaleb Rich reached on an error and Brad Weatherman and Jordan Gier had back to back triples as part of a three run fourth. The Demons got another run in the fifth on a Gier sacrifice fly to score Ossman. Martin Ponce pitched the entire game and held the Chiefs to three hits, struck out four, walked two and hit a batter. With the win, the Demons will return to Mount Pleasant on Monday to face Mount Pleasant.

The Panthers beat Fort Madison in the second game at Mount Pleasant last night. It was tied at 3-3 early but the Panthers would get the win 10-3. The Demons and the Panthers split in their two doubleheaders this season.

Elsewhere in 3A district baseball postseason play, Fairfield lost to host school Centerville 8-4. The Big Red will play Knoxville who edged out Chariton 3-2 in eight innings.
